Thomas, I like #3 and #4. The first two - especially #1 - are just too close to the background in color.

But Hey, that's just me. And I know I've been guilty of that before, too!

Hi Thomas - they look nice and sharp to me. Which lens are you using? Great bokeh.

Last year we had a pair of collared dove that were regulat visitors, but sadly I haven't seen them here this year. I believe they asre one of the species in decline in the UK, so it is nice to see your pictures.
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Thanks Birma, I am glad you like it. I had to dig out my 70-210/4 recently and I am happy I didn't sell this one, too. As you say, nice colour, bookeh and sharpness :D Pics are off the camera, only cropped and resized.

I was surprised about the birds, normally they fly away when you get closer, but I could get very close (like 1.5 meter) this weekend. Actually even the 'head' shot pic3.jpg is scaled down!

They are actually very peaceful birds, always coming as a couple. You shouldn't just get too familiar with them or they will sh*t all around your terasse. :?

Hi Bossel,

Thanks for sharing these. :D
Doves are not very selective when it comes to providing the right compositions and angles.... : ) Nor are they at all worried about their toilet training! Funny that they observe the human beings just as we observe them. Yours seem to have a nice colour combination, feather and eye colour wise; nothing like them in Istanbul.

The amount of fine detail is worth exploring though. I like the details of the feathers...Maybe, early morning light can produce even more interesting shots that bring their light colours. : )

You have a good lens! : ))
