Tall Ships Hartlepool 2010

I really like #3 of the series. I went on Monday, and the weather was nowhere near as good - mostly overcast with a few showers, but that didn't put off the crowds. Given the conditions I tried to produce something with a "period" feel - did I succeed? Please let me know.

I think the 'feel' is there, Stewart.

The weather condition and the sky contributes to that 'feel' and aged look immensely...

Very close, all you needed too seal the deal was a longboat in place of the inflatable and it would have been really period I reckon.
I do like that one though.

Thank you Yildiz, Dr.Harout and Birma. I was unhappy about the inflatable too, Greg. Plenty of them buzzin' around looking for toddlers falling in the drink. Thought about cloning it out, but would leave the centre of the scene empty with nothing to tie the two quays together.

Did you succeed? Absolutely, in my opinion!

When I looked at that image, my reaction for the first second or two was that you were posting a classic image from the age of sail, to accompany the photos of the modern tall-ships. After that initial reaction I started to see the clues that made it clear that this was a current photo, but the initial impression was very effective, IMO.

I liked all those shots, that last one is a class shot Murph. I see a rowing boat in that last one of yours StewartJS, now all we need is a crew dressed in period clothing for it.

Paul and Stewart, congratulations, what a beautiful tall ships' thread this has become!

Glad to see the crews and the ships that I like so much, from the view points of other forum members. The antique look suits these ships.

I see, you got the Shabab Oman crew, Paul. : ) And the last shot of the MIR is amazing.
I read somewhere that The MIR has agreed to be part of a celebration for Teesside University. A nice party on MIR's deck during the night is probably due and it should be enjoyable... : ))

After the tall ships event, the MIR has been docked in Blyth for a few days, we have had solid grey skies and rain since Thursday evening, however the blue skies returned just in time to see her depart (an hour before this the sky was solid grey).

Here are three from this afternoon for you to see.
