That NDA stuff probably means there will be no announcement that day but that we have to wait till Photokina. Maybe they hand out test models to the press so they can prepare some articles for their magazines that would appear at Photokina timeframe? (Press means probably every magazine one could think of with the exception of PCA :? ) Anyway, lets hope some good souls let trickle through some of the news... Exciting days ahead  Must control the GAS

Minus the "14.2 Mega Pixels" text, which is an easy PS job.

Difficult to know yet what's behind that body but here is the latest SR4 rumour on sonyalpharumor
(SR4) Detailled Sony A55v specs!
For days we received infos about the Sony A55 camera. Those are the rumored Sony A55 specs:
16.7 megapixel APS CMOS
15 points AF system
Center ***triple cross*** sensor
***Double cross*** sensor x2 at left/right
12 normal sensor(F5.6)
FullHD 1080 60i
Translucent mirror inside, can reflex light during power on
Translucent mirror can be open to clean the sensor
EVF super-clear, specific unknown pixel, image quality is only worse than the A900 only
10FPS continous shooting with AF
AFC just like Nikon’s 3D tracking system – fast and reliable
SONY claims that would be better than 50D’s AF
SUPER FAST AF speed at center point
ISO100-25600, ISO6400′s noise just like a900′s ISO400
Support NEX’s hand-held night shot(Multi-shot)
Support a700′s Quick Navi access mode
Support DOF, however EVF becomes dim during small aperture
Use NEX3/5 battery
a55 priced at about 900-1000USD
The ISO performance seems a bit exaggerated. As is pointed out in comments, Nikon's D700 has ISO3200 noise on a par with A900's ISO400 so the APS-C A55 is one stop better than the FF D700???
Something is brewing but only the official release details can be trusted. An A580 with some of this stuff could be interesting. If the price is right this could be a competitive camera shaking up the "DSLR" sector. I guess there will be a heavy reliance on electronics and plastics and a reduction in mechanical parts and metals compared with the A700 to achieve this price point for such a camera.

I wonder if the use of the Nex3/5 battery suggests a "small" (well smaller than a regular dslr) form factor?
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

The original site has removed permission to link their images (or never gave it), but they're all over the rumor sites now anyway.

The stereo microphones are the best bit. Placed on either side of the prism, same position as ears in your head above your shoulders, should produce a recording uncannily close to human stereophony - or maybe closer to what a pygmy marmoset hears.

Interesting pictures dynax800si.
I think the button below left of lens is DOF. I note that on/off and A/S control dial is as akward as on A550. Very difficult to use A/S control dial. Not keen on the position of AEL button. Same as A550. Akward to use. Should have been where +/- Exposure button is located. As I said above low cost probably due to use of electronics and plastics in place of mechanicals and metal. Will be interesting to see how this thing performs. I guess there will be the usual "screams" that too many settings require menu application as with NEX. This appears to be the way with Sony now. Doubt this camera is for me. I would like to see what the A580 looks like. for the time being I will make do with my A350/550 and 700. These have been improved in performance by Adobe.

It will be interesting to see if this is true. Hard to imagine that they really have an EVF with image quality so good that it is only exceeded by the A900 OVF. Maybe it is only as good as the A850 OVF.
