Hi Doc - nice shot of the spider - you must have been very close :shock: .

Yes and it bit me... now I feel dizzy, though am seeing much better and no need of eyeglasses... My wrists are a bit swollen and there's some kind of hair growing on my fingertips... :wink:

I am sure that you are all aware that the Marumi DRF14 Ringflash is now available for Sony at £109.00 here in UK. I wonder if it is any good.

Yes, the Marumi is the same flash that I tested as the Delta in Photoworld last year. It works fine. Cost me £85 with a whole stack of adaptor rings for different lenses.

That one seems too crop up under a variety of different names, Pnoenix, Dot Line, Bower and now Marumi, if it's the same one (and they all look remarkably similar), it doesn't get very good reviews for quality. Also the controller unit stands straight up like the Sigma and that makes it difficult to use a RA finder with it.

It has two benefits - first it costs a fraction of any alternative; secondly, the tube is a circular tube, which is placed so that a lot of light can go inwards to the zone right in the ringflash 'hole'. This makes it about the only good ringflash to use with the 30mm f/2.8, because with the old Minolta ringflash and many others, the 19mm close focus distance means the flash misses the subject completely.

With this cheap flash, you get great illumination even at 2cm distance.
