That's actually a good promotion..VAT is a nasty tax at the best of times.

Yeah it really is! so thought it was best to share! so if you buy an A55 with a kit lens at £699 from Jessops, you can get £104.11 back!!!

As I did, but of course they do have a returns policy.... and you can always buy again....

I did receive this release yesterday but I have not posted it yet. Told a few people privately who were just about to buy. It is not the VAT back of course, just a straight discount, VAT can still be reclaimed from the VAT-off price.

And our VAT rises to 20% on January 4th, but if you pay for good in full before January 4th and receive them later, you can pay only the current 17.5%.

Do you also have a PST? In Canada they have a GST and a PST.

Hi David, I have checked on the "claim form" and it is more than just the NEX, the A-55 as well as other kit.

I think Scooterman is right. It looks to me as if a lot is included including my target - the A580 body only. Print out the form and scrutinise the Terms and Conditions. In fact Warehouseexpress.com has the A580 at just under £600 so with 17.5% VAT included I am almost at my target of £500.00. I think I will go for it when they appear in stock eventually. Not that I need the camera, but I just think this is the last decent one with OVF and no light loss through a transparent mirror of untested durability.

Ref. David's comments above, I have been looking at Park Cameras and Warehouseexpress here in UK and they both offer VAT back from Sony on A580 and other cameras outside NEX5. Have a look. Would be a disaster for them to make such an offer and Sony refused. In any event Terms and Conditions would supersede a press release in legal terms.
