I have past this house hundreds of times, and for many years lived a mile or so away. Yesterday I finally took a pic. I have seen many people in the past running in the garden taking photos. I was at a distance being discrete when an elderly lady appeared and beckoned me over, I got to the door and another lady was there. Had a chat for a several minutes, what a charming couple. I could see the inside out did the outside with its rough wood beams and plaster. I took this about 75' back. They told me it would be OK to take some from the garden, as posted.

You're the one to find that 'sweetly odd' bits and pieces out of life! Pumpkins...houses that look as though carved out of pumpkins with roofs that look as though covered with pumpkin seeds...

The residents are very kind to let people take photos of the structure.

I also like their choice of trees and plants in the front yard; the red/auburn leafed round tree and such which onlly add to the fairy intricacy of the house's architecture.

I was trying to comment on these shots yesterday, in the morning (09:30'ish here in Istanbul ) when my wireless connection failed and I had to contact the technicians of my service provider. So, sorry for the belated comments! : ) I'm using my cable connection now until my wireless issues are resolved...being mobile is always better than being stuck at one place definitely.

In fact, it is.

I'm smoothly back online with my wireless connection for about an hour and a half now. The sweet fact is, I did the whole thing on my own, meaning the technicians were of no help at all with all of their suggestions and the so-called 'technical counceling'. I listened to my heart and the logic of my brain cells and worked my way around and voila! 'I'm back and mobile too'!

ps. Been drizzling and raining night and day here and actually quite cool, I don't know what's going on, we aren't supposed to be cool in November.
I've got a huge box of roofing screws to put in but I can't get up on the roof while it's wet...it'd be like a slipery dip with the end 20' above the ground.

Looks like I've got my very own (very tiny just out of the egg) Fugnog and Jabberwoki. For some reason they built a nest outside my bedroom window in a fork next to the shackle and sheave block I put there in an attempt too straighten the tree, (it got too much water from the rain last year and sagged over). The only problem is the slats in the blind on the old style casement windows, they are a good distance away from the side of the house and spoil the view, I'll try to get better shots when I have more time.

Thanks guys (and girl ), It's not easy getting a clear shot where they are, there's too many things in the way at different distances, I tried the same shot with the 100-300apo and all you could see was a white blur right accross, it defocusses the foreground slats into a whiteout, so I got some cord and tied a couple of slats together on either side too widen the gap.

Ha ha DA, no it's an old tablecloth I think, I wound it around the branch to try and stop the chain from damaging the branch too much when I got serious with the heave ho. (It's an avocado tree, otherwise I would have just chopped it off probably). I left it under quite a bit of tension for a month or so and achieved very little in the way of straightening.

Birma that particular dove is the Peaceful Dove, I actually used my new latest edition of Pizzey & Knight for the first time..(it was a present); to check the proper name and found I've been in error all this time, I've always just called them Peace Doves.

Great to see an update Greg. You will need one of those Nex5 jobs which will allow some fancy specialised lens to get at your partly hidden guests - See DK's video in the Nex thread .

Thanks Birma, one of the problems is the subjects are jostling about a good deal in a dark shady spot, and the other is the contortions one has to get into just to get the camera on them, there's an obstacle in the room as well so I need a double jointed back; and 1/80sec on a 300mm lens is not fast enough even with AS. I'll try even higher ISO next time and see how that goes.

They have had their eyes open for a couple of days now, they sure are growing fast; birds make a lot of mess around their nest, not very wonderful toilet habits, I guess there is one upside though, Doves make very flimsy nests so the guano will help hold it together I suppose.

KM5D KM100-300apo (I tried this one at ISO3200 for a bit of a better shutter speed but there is a lot of chroma noise in the defocussed leaves, also that parent is a menace it's always moving and jerking it's head around and fussing with the children).
