Is video on A580 usable?

Could be video on A580 with MF only usable? Why they don't support contrast detection AF like on NEX cameras? Is there any possibility that they will add AF for video in a firmware update? And that it will work with non-SAM/SSM lenses? I like the A55 with EVF and fast AF but I don't like the low battery capacity and the overheating issues. I can't understatd why contrast detection AF on A55 works with SAM lenses only.

Only the A580 has focus check Live View mode with Contrast AF (page 92 of the user manual) - "Only when SAM lenses or SSM lenses are used. The Face Detection and Smile Shutter functions cannot be
used. The AF area setting can be selected from either [Spot] or
[Flexible Spot]." The A55 doesn't have Contrast AF.
