Thanks DA, yep just the two; it's amazing watching them being fed, one of the parents (or both, I can't tell the difference, but I've seen one replace the other) picks at the babies until they wake up and then they both put their beaks into the parents beak and it regurgitates by bobbing it's head up and down with a little head on each side being jerked up and down.
I read somewhere that because seed eaters (the infants) can't digest seeds straight out of the egg the parents have too pre-digest it for them and regugitate, thus passing on the germ that does the digesting. (I don't think I've actually managed to get a decent picture of them being fed yet).

Woki and Fugnog are looking neat and satisfied under the care of the parents. They look very happy after the feeding and doting.

Under the circumstances, I think the ultimate result is actually good for photo quality and almost all emotions and the new feather growth on the babies can be seenn clearly enough.

Autumn finally found its way into Istanbul and is creeeping with its bright yellows and reds on many leaves and vines lately... : )

Hi Yildiz and thanks,
I was getting worried, I thought you might be having trouble with the connections again, nice too hear from you.
I was going too take another photo of them today but there was some unfinished work to do; I need to shift the trestles to finish the screwing operation, 2000 screws and I don't think there's enough left for the outside edge right around. I'm too chicken to stand right on the edge of the roof with a screwgun and with the odd little playful shower passing through, so I'll do it standing on a plank...section by section.
But first I needed to finish the painting that they were originally there for so I don't shift them 10 times and then have to shift them back where they were again.
It seems they grow overnight now; the wings look twice the size they did yesterday, it's amazing really, I never knew they grew so fast. I think it's just a week today since they broke out of the egg. I'll have too take a photo tomorrow because they'll be flying by Saturday ha ha.

ps. Looks like it won't be long now before the temperature goes down into single digits in Istanbul, that picture looks very Autumny, do the trees generally go orange and yellow there as well?

I used to have parakeets at home and remember that they certainly grow fast during their first weeks and afterwards it's more about trying to strenghten their wings for flight and do a lot of wing-stretching exercises. I also think that they'll soon be more mobile and active around the nest soon enough but the parents will probably try to keep them within the nest's borders to prevent them from falling off.

They are very cute!

I wish you good luck and the acquisition of a safety belt of some sort to keep yourself from falling off the edge of that roof as well. You certainly haven't taken to growing wings to keep you in the air like your most recent 'free-of-charge-tenants'. So beware and tie yourself to some stout post or something and make sure that plank is not easily disturbed with your shifting weight while you're moving on it!

Autumn in Istanbul, can be really colourful at some parts but I was't able to shoot in the woods to gather some mesmerizing shots as some of our more prolific posters. : ) Well, we have a mixed weather that confuses the plants' 'thinking' as well so we both greens and golden yellows besides the reds of the vines and little fruit-bearing bushes.

These three are from our garden; the resident golden yellows and reds... : ))

Like DA said, great light in those shots Yildiz, pleasing to look at.
I don't know what that is DA but it's great, lovely bokeh.

It's really overcast here today and raining off and on, where the birds are I think it's about EV3. The brightness value in the EXIF is 2.25 anyway, so I couldn't create a photographic masterpeice by any means but you can get an idea how much they've grown, he/she is feeding the two of them at that moment but it's not easy to see where the other one is, and there was a bit of movement so it's a little smudged like the other three or four photos.

They certainly are grown! From now on it'll all be about trying to fly... : )
The nest appears to be far too small for the whole family though and I don't think that the parents will bring in more twigs to enlargen it somehow. So, they sure will be tight on estate shares. : )

I hope the screwing on the roof is going at a good pace...Take care!


Going in due course, from eating and feeding, my photo is of what I had for dinner last night. Not very different from what birds would like to feed on pleasantly actually; I cooked broadbeans and boulgur pilav with green lentils and yougurt on the side...A healthy meal. : )

Hi Yildiz and DA,
I didn't get much done today, didn't feel like working in the rain, but did load my truck up with rubbish for the dump, mostly old battens and insulation replaced in the roof.
Usually healthy food doesn't look all that good, but that looks nice Yildiz, I thought it was partly eggplant at first, then I thought I saw mushrooms, but I was wrong on both counts.
I had a nice chilled Mango today, yummy. And I took a photo of where the birds are as seen looking out the window normally (at 1X perspective) i.e. at 35mm focal length.

You know, you can send just any photo to this thread. There are no limitations to what could come to one's mind or the things one sees or does during the course of a day/night. It's about sharing...and sharing the just any other thing while the weather changes around us! You sound like you have plenty of satisfying weather conditions out there.

That photo is very self-explanatory of the top-of-the-tops situation the doves are beginning to run into. : )) Apparently, the little ones need to be kept warm from the chill and humidity of the day; they still need some extra layers of feather growth too keep warm on their own.

And, the pains you went to, to photograph them without disturbing their mood is amazing! " Uncle Gregory on Mission Impossible. "

The mango looks very appetizing indeed! I felt like eating some myself when I first saw the photo but I had oranges and mandarins and a banana instead. : )
