High Force

I had a drive down to High Force yesterday as I felt the need to get out in the fresh air, it was still fairly cold but worth the trip.

This is the area at the base of the falls, note the icicles at the sides, this image is stitched from 6 seperate shots.

Impressive stitching of the first image. Tripod? Camera? Lens? Software for stitching? Would be interesting to know. Good balance between shadows and highlights in third shot. A little bit of PS adjustments to get it right and RAW for full dynamic range?

As the Doc says "brrrr" - it looks very cold with the icicles and the pounding waterfall - it must have been bracing. I like the colours in the third with the view down stream.
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Great shots of a great place Paul, but I couldn't stop thinking if you slipped on those rocks and ended up in the drink....at least it would be mercifully quick.

Hi Paul,

Actually, the force of the falls can be felt and seen from how it's worn away almost perpendicular grooves in the rock formation and the weather is testified by the icicles all round; there probably would be more had the water movement permitted it.

Good shots and thanks for showing us what you had to brace up against. : )

Great shots Paul. I can see why its called High Force. That second shot really shows it. John
If the last thing you remember hearing is somebody yelling 'CLEAR!!!', assume you've had a problem!!

Thnaks for the comments all, regarding the pano: A700 + KM 17-35 lens, on a tripod, PTGUI used for stitching
