Lovely one of the coots Yildiz. You were right with the
name of my coot (Fulica americana) it no doubt came up
to Canada for the day? I live little more than a mile
to Point Roberts, Wa, USA.

By naming it the American Coot, I suppose they mean the whole of the North America as a continent. : )) I haven't read anything about a particular 'Canadian' coot but there's a subspecies called Fulica atra Australis which pertains to the continent of Australia altogether. hence thinking along the lines of continental land pieces.

Hey hey we're not all coots here in America!!! Oh you mean the bird!! I'm turning 40 this year, I'm a little sensitive to being called coot (here it is usually 'old coot')..
There are some great bird shots so far this year. Here is one from me, I have to admit that the birds may not be the biggest part of the image, but I like it anyway. Taken this morning on Lake Lavon, East of McKinney. John

That's exactly what I thought when a car would speed by causing quite a breeze...I didn't stay too long, but I'm going back tomorrow, I saw an old barn that will catch some great light, and it will be colder tomorrow morning... I must be crazy.

They indeed seem to be speeding in the cold water, John. : ) The wake they leave behind creates a nice scene with that lovely light over the lake.

A great place to take photos of landscape or wildlife.

Thanks guys- I need to go there more often, I went back Sunday, but it was cloudy, and the water choppy, so I didn't stay at that part to long. I did take the opportunity to scout for locations on a better day, and I found a few, plus one that looks like it will be great for IR in the spring/summer.. John

Hi John, that is a very fine pictures - great light and colours. It is nice to see birds in the context of their wider environment sometimes. This image has the same graphic appeal as your wonderful bridge picture in the Weather thread.
