Hi Vaughan - those are lovely pictures, I like the first two especially. The wood looks very inviting; I would very much like to stroll along the bank of that stream . Nice colours and the details of the winter, stripped tree branches.

#2 make me wish I was strolling down that pathway, camera at the ready, rifle on the shoulder, looking for something to shoot for here or for dinner!

Justs shows you there is nothing wrong with the A100. This camera can still produce wonderful pictures in the right hands and given the right subject. Lovely colours and not overdone with too much saturation.

You would be in the right place too, we have quite a large population of wild boar (pigs) living in these woods and in this area, I think some escaped or were released from a farm several years ago and they have just multiplied, I have seen several, they seem OK and I havent heard of any attacks, but I wouldnt threaten or annoy one as they look kind of mean

That is a very prudent attitude. Most people are not aware that wild boar can be very, very dangerous. If there are small children who play in the woods, it would be wise to either keep them out of the woods or to make a serious effort to eliminate the wild pigs.

I shot some video on my cellphone in these very woods and loaded it to you tube...its not very good but heres the link, it starts off terribly shakey as I was a bit nervous, but it gets better towards the end, I love the way they wade the river

Vaughan, from a report on TV (historic farming experiment in Devon) it seems that the wild boar were reintroduced deliberately by a group of activists - they call it 're-wilding' of native species. We are now looking forward to having wolves and bears in Scotland. Wild boar would be quite welcome, our local hunters would keep the markets well provided. Got another pack of wild woodpigeon from the supermarket in the fridge, an estate near us has so many they now shoot them and package them commercially for Haldanes. Earlier in the month we got two mallard duck breasts shot in Rothbury, over the border in England, also commercially packed - duck shooting was closed at the time on the Tweed.

Wild boar are VERY mean! I went boar hunting many years ago w/ my cousin and the one rule on the ranch was - if you can't grab a tree and pull yourself a few feet off the ground, you can't go!

I've seen what they do to the dogs who get too close, and I'm glad I was packing something that would make me win every argument with them! (Trusty old Marlin 444).

Somewhere, my cousin has a great fake photo of my 'fighting' one with a knife. The lodge were were at had numerous head and rear ends mounted, so we placed one of each so that my body was covering it's missing mid-part, covered my arms with ketchup and took a few shots of the wrestling match. All in good fun.
