The cobalt blue plummage around the neck and the eyes does make a good change from the regular brown sparrows...

It's good frame with a nice cmposition, Caporip. Lots of fine details....and you've got a good angle that covers the ahole of the body.

Hi each, yes he was flying but with a rabbit lure that he had just snatched, normally they don’t do that but I think he did not want the Great Grey Owl that was with another handler to have a chance at it.
Harris hawks are rather lazy that way, and will even run after prey than fly at it.

Something a little different.

American Dipper (Cinclus mexicanus).

Dippers are "swimming" birds. They "fly" underwater. They get their name from the "dipping" movement they make (they bob up and down when sitting on rocks, etc.) They are pretty bland to look at plumage wise, but behaviorally they are kinda neat.

They do fully submerge, but that makes for boring pictures....

They're not bland to look at -- they're just well camouflaged! (or, as my fellow software people would point out, that's not a bug, it's a feature!) Nice shots in any case -- and even if the bird ducked under, the second is still a nice shot of a stream (though I tend to prefer a bit longer exposure to show the "flow" of the water better).

I know how difficult it is to get that sort of shot.
Our dippers in the UK are black so stand out more, but for me these days very hard to get to, they tend frequent streams in very remote areas miles from any habitation.
So, very well done.
