Birma, The mites have devastated the honeybees in most parts of the world. Bumblebees are a bit bigger so they're not quite as affected, but they're sure carriers of the critters!

Great shot indeed!

The photo almost looks as though taken indoors with that even yet blue background-a wall surface? The photo is a good example of insect wild life and reproduction.

I like the composition also. Good thing your presence did not disturb them so you could get such a good frame.

Simply sweet shots of the bees. Good to know that there's still some wild life that resembles summer in the Northern Hemisphere and especially in the UK. : )

Our bees are all gone and already taken shelter somewhere since our rainy and cold days of autumn have arrived!

The weather was very bright and warm at the start of the week and I guess it was a last chance for the nectar gatherers to get busy before the winter sets in.

I have heard about the Honey Bee problems . I can imagine that a load of these mites would be very bad news for a bee colony. I hope there is a solution as no pollenators would be a disaster for crops.

Good work there Birma, getting very good shots of the Bumblebees on the flower and showing the mites. I've just been reading about bee parasite problems and there are a lot more than I thought there were, looks like bees generally are under real threat now from a combination of mites, wax moth and beetle infestations.

Thanks DA, I tried to ease around to the side to get a shot from that angle because the female has a lot more colour on the side, yellow and red, but as soon as I moved off it went, oh well one day I'll get the shot. At the same time two electric blue Ulysses flitted through at speed with their neon wings flashing, I had no chance with those though.

One that I am pleased with, catching this honey bee in flight.
Just shows how even the A-550 CAF tracking is good, and lots of luck on my part.
Hand held also Sony 100mm f2.8 macro.
