Interesting enough the weather forecast reads 'clear' for Istanbul though!

Your Hawaii, sports a great warmth that would make some regions in the Northern Hemisphere jealous which see the heights of 20+ Celcius during late June, July, August...

Look at all those happily walking, surfing and diving in and with their swim wear and gear.

It's still pretty misty in Istanbul. Visibiity is good at ground level but the mist prevails at heights...

Shot this photo of a hotel for the contrasty look against the hazey sky but it looks a bit undone and defective as I tried to avoid the vehicles on the street. It looks a bit weird to me as it is.

Oops sorry guys I have not been checking the weather channel frequently enough I've sortof been preoccupied. And sorry Yildiz I somehow missed your welcome, how did I manage that?
Hey Dusty, thanks bud, actually I have access to a big saw (4' Stihl) here, my friend has one, the one who had the property, he bought it for slabbing the logs the previous owner left lying around in the clearing that were going to waste lying there in the rain and rotting. I could probably even tackle it with mine but I took one look at the termite dirt going up the middle of it and agreed with my sister we might leave that one for the council crew, they might have tungsten chains.
Some great variety there Yildiz in your scenery and well captured too, I like the bridge lost in the fog and the astrophoto as well, you're right about the lighting effects with the hotel, it did turn out 'different' but I don't dislike it at all.
What's that taped area Henry? part of a movie set for that Hawaii 5 O series.

Yes, that is a shower by the beach, but I guess it isn't working at the moment so the city workers have put the yellow tape around it temporarily until they fix it. Either that or maybe Greg is right that it is being reserved for a Hawaii 5-0 beach babe shower scene.

In your absence we tried to keep the thread vibrant and live. Nothing too variable around here except daily weather surprises, except, of course they are nothing like what Australia had to go through in the past weeks.
We have only minor changes that can be perceived as rain, dew, breeze and some wind /night chill.

I was able to capture one of the bird flocks that ornamented the Istanbul skyline this evening. At ISO 1600 with the A100 and CZ 16-80mm.

The buildings in the foreground were major obstacles but the flock can still be perceived, I suppose. The birds keep wave-waltzing in the urban skyline for about 2 hours non-stop, creating many spectacular patterns.

Hi Yildiz - nice sunset colours and that flock of birds (starlings perhaps?) is incredible - when you start to think about the number of birds in that flock. Amazing how they swirl around in such a synchronised manner. This morning's misty scene was a very good shot as well.

Sometimes we get a day that isn't sunny with blue skies. Today wasn't one of them though. It was sunny and 80F/27C today.

I think that you are probably right about them being Starlings, although I could not hear the sounds they made from that far; you know the distinctive sounds they make which is very different from birds like sparrows' and such.

I enjoyed the swirls and the curling-ribbon effect they created in the sky. They know what they are doing.

This particular flock was much larger, while also spreading quite spectacularly, which I tried hard to capture. But only the birds that were silhouetted against the dusky skyline happened to be visible, so I opted for this shot. The buildings in the foreground and the background hid a big part of the flock of birds that were closer to the ground, while also keeping them in the dark shadows of the urban structures.

Nice to see them here in Istanbul... They deserve a standing ovation and photo shooting, so I do both. : )
