Re: Flowers 2011 (Photoclubalpha Flora)
The bar is certainly set high in this thread! I came across these flowers while shooting near downtown McKinney. Taken with my new 35mm f1.8. (great little lens) John

If the last thing you remember hearing is somebody yelling 'CLEAR!!!', assume you've had a problem!!

Hi John. Love the colours and bokeh. I'm quite interested in getting a wider angle prime than my 50mm and this shot is a good advert for the 35mm.
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

I can't recommend it highly enough. This shot is at f2.5
The switch picture in the Trainspotting thread was taken with it, as were some of the T-bird shots. Now I want a really wide fast prime...

John, you mean you need a Samyang (Rokinon, Opteka.....) 14mm?
You're on the right path!
Glen (Camperbc) would recommend the 8mm too.

Hi Mark, : )
Lovely Crocuses shot with a sweet bokeh. A call from the coming spring definitely!
Hi John, : )
Neat test-drive of the 35mm F1.8 on some beautiful blossoms. Good choice of subject with a semi-wide angle lens that takes in the full linear aspect of a whole branch with multiple blossoms.
Thanks for sharing,
Yildiz

Great shots Yildiz. I love the lighting on them. Gorgeous. We are in Hot Springs Arkansas for spring break, and we went to Garvan Woodland Gardens yesterday. A great place run by the University of Arkansas. http://www.garvangardens.org/
Here is one of my faves. It was a bit of a challenge using such a narrow DOF, as it was very windy with 10-15mph gusts. I caught this in between gusts. Taken with a700, 35 f1.8 .I don't know what flower it is, I didn't look at the little sign...John

Absolutely glorious Yildiz
. Those Camelia are wonderful and I think the raindrops adds to the picture. Great texture and colour.
Nice pic John - my resistance to that 35mm lens weakens with every shot

Thank you Birma and John.
Lovely pearl white petals against a smooth background.
The shallow DoF works nicely, John. : ) I really like your shots with this lens.
