Great picture there, I never know this thread exist ... ,

So after reading all the Thread I can confirm that if you want a strange buzz ... the first mushroom in the thread is "toxic" but also use to to hallucinogen stuff, In Quebec it is similar to the "Amanite tue mouche -> Bug killer ...". The second one the big white is usually succulent. BUT NEVER EAT ANY BEFORE reading a lot about mushroom and consulting expert .

I like the one in the tree too, good variety of them are good to eat, but with not a very high taste effect.

They looks like ice cream cornet ... but they are very not good to eat ...

Frank, those are fine shots. Don't think I have ever seen the ice cream
cornet types? look like they might belong in the ocean with their urchin style wrap. :^)

The log these were growing on looked like they had been uprighted.
Might explain their heading downwards?

I know what it is DA, the spores came in shipping container from down under, and got loose there ha ha.....

I agree, very interesting, for sure every mushroom of this type always try to make the spores go down on the floor, so you explanation it is probably right.

This little mushroom usually grow on very bad shape tree, or completely dead with a lot of humidity.

This is an another who grows tree. This one can be use has a white balance calibration, the white is so white ... that to the eye it become near than surreal :

It is a good time of year for mushrooms again - and I spotted this chap hiding at the edge of the braken on a walk this week.

We got another crop of ours. I debated whether to pick young ones and eat them, and decided that if they have only ever been recorded recently in two locations within 1000 square miles (one being my garden) they deserved to grow, spore and die naturally. That one of yours looks like a regular parasol mushroom and recommended eating, while ours were 'some may have problems' edibility.

Been looking for other fungi but oddly enough, not others around yet despite extremely warm wet weather - it was 25C in overcast weather yesterday.

I took this picture last week whilst wandering around near the nuclear power station at Dungeness.. its a lichen which is half fungi so I guess its ok here..

One kind on mushroom you can eat almost without danger (message for David...) or lets say by wrong identification is this one :

(you can see a blueberry on the picture, it is living almost in the same environment)

It is in fact supposed to be this mushroom:


, but another mushroom just infect is and make is very hard, white in the inside, orange-red on the outside and VERY delicious. You can cook it like a potato (in french fries, it is perfect).

Hmm a Lichen growing near nuclear power plant, could be some interesting chemistry happening there Dr. Scott…you haven’t noticed a tendency for your fingers to develop into tentacles or anything? Good shot btw.
And I’m enjoying those fungi shots of yours too Frank.
