Lots of great train photos so far! These are not so good, but they are photos of some passenger trains in Japan. By the way, trainspotting is very popular in Japan. Go to the magazine section of any bookstore and there are tons of train magazines.

I love those Bullet Train shots Henry. I understand that they lost some in the earthquake/tsunami, and that tracks were destroyed as well.

I know what all of you are going to say.... But it is a train (of sorts),a and I did spot it... From the Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs Arkansas. Taken with my a700 and 35 f1.8..

Some great train photos, I like the detailed construction of the bridge in that shot of yours John. I get the impression it's a fairly large scale model, but I'm not sure just how big it really is.

After seven attempts at logging in filling in at least four codes I would like to join the train spotting fun. Here is a trio of Scottish train images all taken with my A550. The first one of a quaint narrow gauge diesel pulled train is at Leadhills in Suthern Scotland followed bu a test train testing the track on a new railway just built between Airdrie and Bathgate in the central belt of Scotland and finally a steam engine pulling a special towards Mallaig in the Highlands of Scotland last October towards dusk. Sorry about the weather. Regrettably the sun is not always shining here in Scotland, but the A550 handles dull conditions reasonably well.

Especially the third photo is a very special one with the surrounding landscape, the soft curvelinear bend of the tracks and that volume of smoke; reminder of a very special past era. : )

Thanks guys.. Aster I did feel a bit like Gulliver in Lilliput, but that was a fairly large scale model.. Very well detailed in all aspects.
It was in the kids area, but there were more adults than kids admiring the trains...
Great shots alphaomega. I really like the third one. Definitely from a bygone era... John

Great shots Daniel- I've always been fascinated by Soviet era things and design. I like the last one and the shot of the station the best. John
