I hadn't realize that those are logs that the ducks are standing on. They certainly must have come into awareness that it's better to ride on a log to go the distance than have to paddle the journey downstream. : )

Here are three bird images - none of which were taken by me.

My daughter and her family came to town for several days last week for a holiday during the children's Spring Break from school, combined with a surprise party to celebrate my wife's birthday. While here, their family also spent some time at the beach.

During their beach visits, my daughter's husband enjoyed the chance to play with his newly purchased Sigma 70-200 f:2.8 APO lens, and produced the following three images - among many others. The first shot has two birds in the image - although the larger bird would probably not be officially recognized as one by any scientist. The other two images are of an ordinary seagull, shot just to gain familiarity with the behavior of the lens at different f-stops.

So far, he is quite happy with his purchase, and I've been favorably impressed with some of the images it has produced for him.

In the first picture, it really was very foggy at the beach that day, which is why there is not much detail in the distance in spite of being shot at f:11.

Yeah right DA, some logs float up to Canada from Oz ha ha. btw I don't think many 'got' that legpull of mine about the upside down mushrooms/toadstools, but I think you did. hmm maybe I should have went into more depth with the explanation.

This log might have been part of a log boom? having a boom chain railing holder on it.

I was going to make a joke about the Oz ducks underneath and the Canadian ducks right way up but I will restrain myself.
Excellent reflection DA, that water is as still as a mirror. Is that rush dead? is that how they end up?

The synchronization of the airborne ballerina and balet ducks make a cheerful photo. Well done, captured in the right mment.

The romantic tete-a-tete of the white swans with their colourful bills is a classic.

And I like the enquiring look the black bird eyes its surroundings in the third shot.

Thanks for the comments everyone, we had a stroll around Washington Wildfowl and Wetlands park on Sunday afternoon in the spring sunshine, here are a few bird pics from the park

There is a collection of Flamingos


There are many different species of duck


Also many geese


There is also a bird hide with some feeding stations nearby to attract local birds - this is a bullfinch
