Fabolous for me also! :D

Rhododendrons are where you especially got wonderful compositions but the blue wild ones and the white bells are immensely charming... I'm jealous. : ))

Thanks Yildiz! It is not often that I photograph colours that start to rival the fabulous colours of Istanbul 8) .

Out in the sunshine yesterday in another of the local woods. It looks like the beginning of the end of the Bluebells, although there were still plenty about.

They were not all deep in the woods, this shot is taken in a meadow between patches of woodland.

Both shots with A700 + Tamron 17-50/2.8 (correction, second with Tamron 60/2).

That will be a pity Birma, when all the Bluebells have gone, you have captured some great natural displays, is there anything else on the horizon in the way of wildflowers? Also what's the story with the woods, are they private land or is it more of a town common type of thing?
Greg

ps. All set for the Royal shindig? looks like it's going to be bigger than Ben Hur

Great series of flower photos, Birma. You did some fantastic close-up shots.

Birm, you are definitely getting us jealous.
Excellent shots, specially (for me) the Rhododendrons with the ruins in the back.

As the deciduous canopy gets established it pretty much marks the end of woodland floor flowers, so it is time for the meadows, which tends to be lots of different flowers rather than swathes of one type. One exception last year was an amazing field of poppies. It would be great to find something like that again nearby.

Unexpected surprise

Unread post by redsim74 »

For the past six months or so I've been pulling this plant out of our garden, thinking it was a weed. It grows back very quickly and I'd never seen a single flower bud on it, until about a week or so ago when I got just that — a single bud.

Which turned into this... a flower about the size of a side plate!

Bless those weeds that glorify the gardens, Redsim74. : )

Most impressive.

--------------------------

Hi Gio67,

That's a very vibrant and healthy blossom. : )

Thanks for sharing,

---------------------------

I took a couple of shots from the garden and from the road as I passed these blossoms by. All shot with the Samsung mobile phone 5 mp camera. : )

First the Dandelion seed heads got my attention, then I saw the tulips, the magnolia and the pink quince flowers which are fast leaving their place to the quinces and leaves.

Warning: not the best of JPEG quality that you're used to of the Alphas'! :D
