Well, I have really enjoyed the extra day's holiday. My daughter very much enjoyed seeing on the TV the soldiers in red coats, the horses, and of course 'princesses' . I remember that shot, Greg, of the press corps with that impressive battery of lenses .

Your camera sensor and lens must have teared up, hence the hazy shots. It was an emotional day and event of the 21st Century for some...and probabl for the cameras too. Hardly will an of these cameras turn to such a big event for a looong time to come I'd imagine.

Nice shots. I like reviewing the hats and the attires of many of the guests myself; some tasteful, some making a statement and some really tried one's imagination! A very nice organization as a whole that went smoothly...I hope the British feel proud about the whole wedding ceremony. : ) I can say that many eyes were locked to the TV screens here in Turkey.

Next big announcement probably will be the coronation of the future King, I suppose. Until then...

Thanks Birma and Yildiz, yes the shot of the press corps section was something, they must know how to stay out of each others way...somehow. I liked the horses the guards and carriages just as much as the wedding I think, a really splendid turnout, it was a credit to them all.

Hi Greg,

Yes, I think you've got a point there. : ) Queen Elizabeth looks very healthy and competent still and she doesn't appear to be willing to let go of the throne to Prince Charles yet. ( My personal thoughts of course. ) But maybe she'll let Prince William take over the throne as a better suitor for the throne, who knows...and since Prince Harry appears in no hurry to be in a wedlock I just thought that a coronation may be the next big event.

I also enjoyed the formal outfits of the Irish Guards and the rest of the pageant as everything looked as though frozen out of a long gone hstory but I liked the traditional side of it all; horses; spurs on the heels of the boots of the guards; and little details like that.

The pageantry of the event was spectacular. I would love to photograph something like that but I bet crowd dodging is the main skill required. Easier to get a good view on the telly. The images taken from the ceiling of the abbey were great.

My understanding of the monarchy here is that the Queen would either need to abdicate (and therefore leave the country) or pass-away for there to be a succession to the throne. She can't just pass it on. I also don't know if she has any choice in her succession. I think Charles would also need to abdicate for William to succeed. Sadly I think a state funeral would therefore be the precursor to a coronation as the Queen is a stickler for doing things "properly".

Well, I thought maybe there could be a way of smoother 'passing' of the throne and not a 'passing away' of any healthy member of the royalty. Of course, my knowledge of the British Monarchy is limited and I only spoke from an observer's point of view. I didn't know that they had to abdicate as well as leave the country...

Having witnessed the sad passing of Princess Diana, followed by the remarriage of Prince Charles, I had a strong feeling that, if there ever was a chance of making a choice, it would be Prince Williiam and not Prince Charles for a fresher start that was free from all the scandalous and hurtful events that hurt the image of the Royal Family at some point in the recent past.

Oh well, if there's no in between then it certainly will be a big sad ceremony followed by a solemn coronation of the first member to the throbe and maybe even yet an other royal wedding. : ) We'll wait and see. (not that I'm waiting actually. It'll happen when and if it will and maybe I'll be seeing or hearing of it like everyone else. )
