Photo riddle

After yet another long break I’ll show you today results of my little photo experiment. Normally I would trash this photo because it has a bit too much sky which should be replaced by more pond reflections, I’ll however make an exception to ask you a question: how was the “painting” effect achieved? You’ll probably say “post process of course…”. Wrong! This image was imported from RAW without any changes and only automatic levels correction was applied later to remove green color cast. As usual full EXIF is attached to either help you finding correct answer or mislead you Have fun and feel free to ask additional questions if finding solution seems too hard.

My guess would be some sort of camera obscura effect with the A700 inside the box taking the picture of the projected image? Maybe some sort of perforated filter or cloth over the lens to give the 'dot' effect? However it was done, its a nice effect.

Did you shoot through a very thin, light fabric? Possibly a wet fabric?

Pixel peeping of a very small part of the image?

EXIF says f2.8 @ 1/60, but it looks like daylight. So maybe taken at twilight and pushed several stops?

Its not from camera obscura and not pixel peeping also fabric wasn't used. Sheet of paper was involved, but just placing it between scene and camera would be too easy. Dusty noticed quite important thing to get it solved.

Its time to share solution to my riddle. Image above was taken with macro lens, however I wasn't photographing pond and building but single frame from negative shot with analog camera few days earlier. Sun was used as light source and single sheet of paper from my printer was placed between negative and sunlight to create texture. That + minimal OOF and voila. We have our painting. Just invert it and do automatic color correction in your favourite graphic software.

So as Nebbor from Dyxum guessed it was projection of film frame on printer paper using sunlight.
