Look a bit skittish those ones Charlie, you probably did well to get a shot of them by the looks.

also love the horn shot

:)

1969 Leitz 400mm telyt f/6.8, about 400USD or a bit less today (they sold for a huge sum originally), and very few modern lenses can match it's center frame rez. Not very heavy, lens barrel breaks down into two parts.

Charlie, that's a lens which speaks in favor of EVF/LCD. It would be quite hard to focus on an OVF.

Great lizard, Doc! It reminds me of some wild ones I saw in Mexico.

Thanks, Greg. Lizards are not something we see photos of much here. Here are some very colorful lizards in Zimbabwe in 1993 (scanned slides). I believe that these are Red-headed Rock Agama lizards.

Amazing colouration in that lizard Henry, great capture. There is a similar style of small dragon lizard here but not that colour of course, just a beige colour with some dark spots along the back, there used to be quite a few running around the yard, but not having a dog for years now, there is none, hardly any skinks either...(other peoples cats got them).

Love the lizards, Henry. : )

Nature usually embellishes creatures with such bright and amazing colours when they have the ability to secrete some powerful poison but these look friendly and interesting enough.

Thanks for sharing these 'dragons' everyone.

I am pretty sure that these lizards are not poisonous. The colors were just amazing though and they almost seemed unreal. I remember that there were a bunch of them running around on the rocks that day. Now that I think about it I remember that these were in Tanzania, not Zimbabwe. I got confused because I remember seeing some other very interesting lizards on rocks in Zimbabwe and I took some photos of them too, but they were different from these. I am not sure if I have any of the Zimbabwe lizard photos scanned already though.

I found a negitave of one of the small dragon lizards we used to have plenty of in the garden, as you can see the genus is very similar to the brightly coloured one that Henry photographed.
