Here's an interesting perspective flying in the Alaska Range. Maxxum 5, 24-105, E100VS -

Really great pictures Edrice. The ones from the cockpit are really unusual. On the first one above, must have been exiting to watch if the plane would clear the mountain tops. One for nerves of steel.

I wish I knew. There is a small chance it wasn't even in Montana (but I am pretty sure it was) since I was on a road trip and just stopped on the side of the road for this photo. It was on one of my drives from Austin, Texas to Vancouver, British Columbia or vice versa that I must have done about 12-16 times a few years ago. I would sometimes drive west through New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Then north through California, Oregon, and Washington. Or, sometimes I would drive going northwest and go through Colorado, Utah, etc. Other times I would drive north through Oklahoma and Kansas. Then west through Colorado and then north through Wyoming and Montana. Then west through Montana, Idaho, and Washington. I liked to switch it up and not take the same route each time. Partly to see different places, but partly based on weather conditions (especially in winter).

Amazing the different coloured mountain ridges in that first one of the Alaska range edrice, and the second one is beautiful as well it would look great at a large size I reckon.
Looks like the mountain you were on was nearly as big as the one in the photo Henry, fairly stark and contrasty rendition, eye catching for sure.

Actually, it didn't.

That series was a sequence of shots as we were losing altitude to land on the glacier. The first, flying towards the escarpment, the second was a steep bank to the left as we got close to the rock wall, and the third shows flying with the wall on our right on our base leg before making one more left turn onto final approach.

What I should do instead of posting more glacier landing shots here is give you a link to the entire flight. It's an automatic slideshow with a few descriptions of what's going on. It was a flight with K2 Aviation from Talkeetna, Alaska up into the Alaska range where we flew around Denali (McKinley) and landed on the basin called the Sheldon Amphitheater at the top of the Ruth Glacier, second longest in the Alaska Range, 30 miles long. The basin where we landed is about 10 miles as the crow flies from the Denali summit. (skiplane flies, actually, as there were no noticeble crows up there and even if there were, they would hardly be given to such shenanigans)

Talkeetna, is the port of departure for most of the climbing parties that are going to summit Denali. It's "a quiet little drinking village with a climbing problem." If you ever go to Alaska, do not even think of coming back without having made this flight. The vistas are so incredible. I was just a button pusher and no experience necessary for spectacular results. (Maxxum 5 with Minolta 24-105 and 100-300 APO D)

I was able to see the slide streaming successfully. I wonder why Dr. Harout couldn't see the images. Maybe just timing?

On the left side I see the thumbnails but not in the center. Only the map is shown and the rest show as a broken page.

In Firefox I get the same results as Dusty, but it works correctly in Explorer 6. When I get home tonight I'll look and see what happens in Opera.

I didn't have any trouble watching it with Explorer 9, it was quite good I thought, I couldn't believe that pilot walking around in a t-shirt.

It works fine for me in Opera.

So far it appears that Firefox is the only browser that has a problem. I wonder if it is actually Firefox itself, some default security setting in Firefox, or a need for a plug-in to run the slide show?
