Thank you Birma. No, they are not native There's an old greenhouse nearby where some butterfly lovers hold over 1500 exotic butterflies. For a small fee, you can enjoy those beauties yourself. As I wanted some new subjects to shoot, we went there today.

The 55-200 is probably the most worthwhile lens to own. For the price, weight, size and optical quality it's unbeaten in my opinion. As a frequent traveler, the size and weight are terrific! I'm really glad I own one!

Wow that's a marvellous grab of the Leaf cutter bee caporip.
Some really spectacular butterfly shots there Mark, for shear impact #2 is hard to beat in that group I think.

As promised previously, our 'little pup', Rex. Still a youngster, a stray a co-worker found. She was going to have him checked for a tracking chip and, if none, leave him at the shelter. I volunteered to take him if there was no ship, and an hour later she walked into the office with this moose leading the way.

The oldest 2 were at camp when we got him, and wanted to see the new dog. However, when we got home Elizabeth (7) cried "I wanted a puppy! That's a wolf!" and stayed locked in the car until she saw Lilly (3) playing with him.

I took a trip to the zoo with my wife today. The temperatures here in Texas, after staying in the triple digits and only dipping into the high nineties overnight for some months, it suddenly cooled rapidly--53 F at 6 am this morning, and a high of 85 F at around 5 PM. When the wife and I got up at around 11 AM today, the temp was 71 F and we instantly decided to spend the rest of the day at the zoo or until they kicked us out. Here's a gangly gerenuk gawking at my camera:

Thank you, guys! I had to reach way over and poke the barrel of the beercan though some branches to get that shot--I'm actually quite lucky to have pulled back not just the composition I wanted (well, I'd wanted vertical), but also my lens hood. I also took this one with my trusty beercan:

The animals appear to be happy with the change in weather as well. The gerenuk is especially nice/cute wearing almost a smile for you. : ) Hard to get such amusing shots at any zoo or in nature.

The 85/2.8 SAM is delivering nicely... Love the colours and details on the Macaws.
