Btw I’m always amazed that there are apparently no crocodiles in that area, it’s an ideal habitat for them and it’s not that far from the north Oz New Guinea area for a sea going croc.
I think those moments in time are definitely worth preserving, I like the wooden plank dory’s, sort of clinker style construction, I wonder how the planks are shaped and bent and fastened to the frames?

I guess it's the other way round... crocs migrated to Oz fleeing from mankind eating them. They've found a nice and peaceful place for them until the POMEs...

Yeah Doc I guess it’s not so much the big ones that get eaten it’s the small ones and the nests with the eggs that are vulnerable, so if you keep wiping out the nests there will be no new crocs growing up. Here though the story is different since they were put on the protected list. Since the early 70’s the score is roughly 30-2 Crocodiles-Humans, and the Crocs are still at bat.
Greg
Ps. Can’t blame the Poms (you can usually blame them for something  ) for the crocodile shooting back in the early days, it was us, and people who wanted to have posh handbags and shoes.

Very interesting to see the comparison shot Henry - trying to see what has changed and what is the same. When you took the 2010 shot did you remember taking the 2000 shot? I notice in 2000 people had pedal powered bicycles, and in 2010 they have petrol mopeds :) .
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Yes, throughout Vietnam there were many, many more motorbikes and cars than in 2000. For example, in 2000 Saigon had a lot, but Hanoi didn't. In 2010 though Hanoi was full of them too.

The shed in front got bigger, the coconut tree just to the left of the house also, and the boats got larger too. :D

Yes, a few rather small changes, but still much like before. There are plenty of the smaller boats still around. Some other parts of Hoi An have changed quite a bit though and yet other parts not much at all.

I like the town life on the edge of the waterway and also the way you captured the herd being driven in water.

Some demographic history there, in these shots.

Thanks for sharing, Henry.
