Portraits at the Beach...and more!

I took my wife to Washington last week (or week before that? yeah, that one) to visit my brother. My brother took us out to the Peninsula, to Ruby Beach and Beach 4. Anyway, I thought I'd share some portraits with you all. These were shot with the a700 and 35/1.8 SAM.







Okay, so I didn't actually take the one of me (#2), that was my wife's handiwork.

It was perfect. I can't help the feeling that it was designed for significantly larger lenses than what I stuffed into it (a beercan, a Tamron 17-50, two small primes, and the F56 flash), but I like a spacious bag for easy access, and it could still have held all the rest of my lenses if I'd wanted. It was definitely the most comfortable backpack I've ever carried. I times I forgot I had it on at all--like when my wife asked for the camera so that she could take my picture...

Speaking of pictures, I didn't just take portraits. Here are some panos from the TX7:

The scenery is almost sterile in these shots.... I like them all but I think you caught a great moment and composition in your third shot where your wife stands like a not-so-prominent statue, quietly eavesdropping to the sounds and language of the nature. It also helped that she has on a cardigan that blends well with the colours of the natural surrundings.
(The shot reminded me of the bronze mermaid statue that sits on the rocks in Denmark, forever waiting the sailors)

Thanks for sharing and glad you found a good back pack to house your ever-growing lens package.: ) And you do look happy with it on!

Thank you! I really had fun with the panoramas, and I'm eager to do more with that feature.

I like the second one more, it has a better "sky to beach" ratio and I like the feel of solitude.
I also think that the scene comes to life because the model (your wife?) is kind of gazing towards the big rock and you have more reflections from the warm sun.

Thank you! Yes, I prefer the second of that last set, as well, and not just because my wife is in it. I tried some cropping options on the first, but felt that cropping from the bottom spoiled the proportions of the rest of the image too much. Here's another with plenty of sky and, oh yeah, my wife, too!
