That certainly is a whopper flower/stem stevecim, I wonder where it came from? I’ve never seen it before that I can remember anyway; and I don’t think I’ve seen that last one before either, it’s unusual looking as well.

When I went over and had a closer look the red Frangipani was more of a cerise colour, odd that it looked redder at a distance, but I took a photo of it anyway.

Ps. Yildiz, actually when I think about it, your A700 does a pretty darn decent KM5D act anyway, and so does my A700. The A700 has a much nicer shutter actuation than the KM5D; but I like using the KM5D because it was the last DSLR made by KM, I guess it’s a nostalgia type thing, besides it does have pretty much all the features you’d expect to have in a DSLR, (KM didn’t short-change their customers by dumbing down to a really basic camera level) it’s compact and the darn thing is reliable, and the battery lasts forever. And another thing, when I look at it I see a camera made by a camera co. that employed designers who were photographers themselves, it’s a sort of camera type flavour I’m talking about, a character if you will, I don’t quite get that same feeling from the A100 or the A700 even though they are both fine cameras as it turned out, they somehow make me think they were made by a robot without a soul….weird I know.

Thanks Birma, I looked across the road at that Frangipani again today and from that distance its red…very strange. Here are a couple more things that have burst into flower over the past couple of weeks.

Frangipani, the name of the plant oddly reminds me of Italian dishes or pastry. : )) It's just the kind of name you'd see on an authentic Italian restaurant's menu...
The red-pink fragile flowers have no resemblence whatsoever to any dish cooked in a pan though.

Yes, Those of you south ot the Tropic of Cancer will have to keep this thread alive until we northerners reach spring again. With our latest frost I'm afraid all my flowers have died off.
