David,
while you are milling around Photkina, if you are still there, of course, could you ask someone, anyone who might know ... why you cannot manually enter an aperture-setting for a manual lens on the A900. Doesn't anyone in design realize how handy that would be for photographers using older lenses and other adapted ones (Adaptall2 & M42)? I know, I've always wanted that feature!

Re: Selecting MANUAL aperture on the A900
I that so as you can use the camera in A mode or maybe one of the automatic modes? On my MD lenses I just dial in the shutter after picking an aperture on the lens
Re: Selecting MANUAL aperture on the A900
I mean, wouldn't it be easier to just "manually" enter your aperture (to match the lens setting)and use the camera's computer to support the rest of the system, be it flash and or whatever?

Re: Selecting MANUAL aperture on the A900
But with an adaptor on the lens .. making the lens a little longer wouldn't the aperture value (Fstop) be incorrect? or is the adaptor to small a distance change to make a diference?

Re: Selecting MANUAL aperture on the A900
What would be valuable would be a menu to enter maximum aperture, working aperture, and focal length. That would complete the EXIF info. Sounds like something for a future generation, not future firmware though.

Well, since it is a "here & now" issue, why not address it as a future firmware consideration? I mean there are only ten or so base apertures (1.4,1.8, 2, 2.5, 2.8,3.5,4,4.5,5,5.6,6.9), I can think of, that are manual. This would be an excellent and remarkable feature on semi-pro & pro-level cameras. You know, guys who have access to exotic stuff and would like to "effectively" mount it.
