Yeah Frank those icicles make the scene look seriously frozen, good to see you got some nice snow in time for Xmas.

Wow DA, it’s a good thing you decided to have a look down the turnoff, great Eagle (how did you get that angle, climb up a tree?) and magnificent Owl photos, that one looks like it’s ready for when the snow arrives, it’ll be hard to spot then.

Thanks Greg. They are putting in a new highway from Roberts Bank, so we now have these new fly overs for the railroad
tracks. I flew over and quickly flew back to take this at his height.

Ah that explains it, maybe a photo of the new road works might be in order too? Do they have to look after the environment there when they build new roads etc. ? The do here but I think it's all just window dressing in the end anyway.

David, the Owl photos that I call in french "Harfang des neiges" is beautiful. The small village in the north of Quebec (Canada) where I come from was a place to see this incredible bird. But ... today to much people with no respect for the wild life has mostly exterminate this creature. Happy to know there is other somewhere with better luck.

Sorry to hear the owls deserted your village Frank. I find it a real privilege having them around. A few year back we had an extra tough winter, so bad people were buying frozen mice to leave out at night for them.

Great bird pictures DA - a good excursion on the way home. Both amazing birds - wow .

We call them mince pies here Greg - yummy! My wife's grandmother makes really nice ones - the pastry is fab. Just one more sleep to go until the big day here - a certain three year old (and her Dad) is quite excited .

Yes those are quite popular Birma, a container of them is usul...always (under orders) taken down to my sisters place on Chrissy day and her husband has been known to hide them somewhere out of direct view from the great unwashed.

We had something that poorly looked liked snow flakes in Istanbul but never was strong enough to hold on... If it snows I'll make sre you'll see it in my shots. : )

A success story accomplished by the forum contributors!

Hi,

I thought I'd point you in the direction of a hidden success that you created on your own...and do it right before 2012 so that the energy would prevail for the whole of the forum in the next year. : ))

Did you realize that you contributed to "Weather..." thread such that :

The avarage number of posts per month was around a 100 ( 97,1 to be more precise)
And the avarage number of Views per month exceeded 1000.

I think that it's pretty amazing that the contributors accomplished this rate... 12 months, 12000+ Views and almost 1200 Posts (1165 to be exact).

Congratulations! You may not have planned this, but you certainly kept track of the Weather around the world with a nice precision rate with almost daily contributions.

A wonderful thread built on a wonderful concept

Grey and mild for the last two days here. The shiney new toys are unwrapped and so here's hoping for some time in the fresh air tomorrow.

Yes I agree it has been a great thread, it's warm and humid-ish here, but nothing out of the usual for this time of the year, there is a nice sea breeze usually to counter that, but occasionally it goes still-ish and that's when you are reminded you are living in the tropics in summer.

Ps. Christmas was at my sister's daughters place this year and the horse paddock view from the veranda is a great one, lots of little wallabies scattered across it, some sitting in the shade of trees. We watched them get really scattered one afternoon when three marauding dingoes came through and chased them, alas too far really to get any worthwhile photos.

Some cows in the adjacent paddock, the Egrets like to hang around with the cows for the disturbed insects.
