Flare

Unread post by Almazar80 »

Testing out the Tokina 11-16mm lens on my A77. Taking a picture with the sun near the midst of the frame resulted in a flare filled image. I cleaned up the image a bit (getting rid of the big spots) and converted the picture into black and white. I don't know if it's the dust specks on the filter or dirt on the mirrot (I ended up cleaning both). I have to do more tests so I can learn how to use this lens. In the meantime, here is the picture of the BI boys novice crew team preparing for their Saturday morning row.

Thanks for looking.

Can't explain the technicalties of the shot, but I like the composition with the flare above the first rower, nice shot :)

I need to take more pictures with the 11-16mm lens to figure out how to use it effectively. Maybe, pictures without a point lightsource directly in the focal plane (with a clean filter or no filter at all) will be less "flary." Lots of learning to be done.

I am posting the pictures I post here, along with other pictures on my photoblog:
