Ramsons

[Marcell Nikolausz]

There is a bloom of ramsons (wild garlic (Allium ursinum)) in the forest in Leipzig. I've tried some creative lighting to capture a better macro:



I also tried some extreme wide angle (fisheye lens on aps-c, a100):


I shoot some sweep panorama with the sel 50mmf1.8 on my nex-5, which resulted in interesting super shallow DOF picture:

Excellent shots Marcell. I loved the pano a lot. I see the light fall off in concentric circle from the middle in the macro.
So what is the creative technique you have used? Only if you want to share.

Lovely Ramson shots Marcell. I like them them all but the first is a stunner I bet there was a healthy hunger inducing smell while taking those shots!

I used this home-made flash adapter:


With this rim light adapter I can illuminate the flowers from the sides only with a thin layer of light. Hence the steep gradient of light from the middle.
A standard ring flash (light) would have lit also the leaves in the background. The rim lighting brings out the details much better.

Yep, the whole forest was full with the smell. Actually I like it a lot, but my wife hates it.
Some people make pesto from the leaves (before the blossom).
