Stacked Macro

I was inspired by the recent insect photo that Pat posted and thought why not give it a try. I was pretty much learning on the "job",
so to speak and any imperfections are, I must admit, are pilot error. One lesson learned is that don't take stacks outside while breezy.

The soft red and yellow colors really make this image very relaxing to look at. You also wouldn't have achieved that if the DOF was thin. The combination of these two aspects really does it for me.

Thank you. Yes this is my first attempt at stacking. I find stacking to be counter intuitive to macro photography.
In trying to take macros, I was trying to get the maximum DoF by trying to use the smallest aperture. Whereas in
stacking, I find it to be advantageous to go wide open in order to "avoid" unwanted background. Similar end result but
coming from opposite ends. Who knew?

Thanks for the link Sury. I'll give it a try sometime. The software seems reasonably priced for personal use, if you do lots of macro's that is. Maybe not for me, but definately for the missus.

Another one. 25 image stack using a Tamron80-200 f2.8 MD lens on a slider. No flash light, all natural light shot.
