Thanks Birma, the KM100macro is a lovely lens without a doubt, the only problem with it is its very macro-ee…what I mean is, it’s specialised at doing one thing and not much else, but that’s quite ok if you love macro.
Yeah that greebly with the long feelers looks like a bad boy (probably some kind of assassin bug) but it was very small, probably only around the 3mm range, as I was concentrating on getting the focus as best I could on it (because it was moving around a lot) I didn’t see the little tiny bug just behind it until I put the photo on the screen, now I’m wondering if I can find one of those again, it looks like a challenge indeed.

Ps I’m sure you would have loved the spider, almost black it was with some tiny white edges around the head area and had a metallic blue sheen highlight on the abdomen, very strange, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one before.
It was probably a similar type to the jumping spider I took before (below) but a different model.

Ah good I saw your post of the bee in the flower and it's great, you do have good luck with bees. You can reverse that lens and do some damage with it that way too, all you need is the MD reversing ring. Mine has a 55mm filter thread on one side and the SR mount on the other, you can get filter adaptor thread rings (step up) for differnt size lens threads if need be.

I think the jumping varieties are disconcerting on two counts. First of all, being called "jumping", indicates that they are going to be chasing down their prey rather than waiting patiently in their web. Secondly, the eye configuration has that binocular effect of two big eyes, so they are most definitely looking at you.

Reversing seems another low cost thing to experiment with. Have to get the focus rail next though I think.

I haven't been here lately and I think it will be my first post in the macro section. Due to the rainy weather the forest was full with mini snails. Minolta 100mm macro + marumi achromat and ringflash adapter (converting on-board flash of the a100)
