Calcareous rocks, Sardinia West Coast. Summer Sunset.

Hello to all friends.
My last post is about three years old. I made an extensive use of my Sony A900 and I'm very satisfied.

This is an experiment with low light. Sun was setting and at sea horizon level. Exposure was two minutes about in BULB, ISO 200, a strong neutral filter NDX64 on Minolta AF 24 mm f/2.8, f/22. Rocks in foreground are painted by the soft and warm light of the last sun rays. Water reflects blue from the summer clear sky.

I loved the painted with light effect on the rocks in the foreground and on the slope of the hill in the background.
Is that rich deep blue due to NDX filter? Just curios.

The blue is so deep because the water isn't illuminated by the sun, but by sky only, because sun rays were parallels to sea surface. Water becomes flushed with the color of the sky. Where the blue is darker there are rocks just below sea level. The neutral filter helps to see those rocks because the wave motion is blurred by the long exposure and so what is lying under the sea level is showed clearly. And so blue is deeper.

Almost alien, except for the blue sky, everyone knows alien skies are green. Nice shot though.
