I can identify the telescopes, the first is the Nordic Optical Telescope and the second is the William Hershel telescope. I had the chance to use the Issac Newton Telscope up there once for a week back in 1993!

Wowzer I like that first one Mark with the town on the rim of a crater, and I like all the others as well of course, the rock art, the nifty old cottage with a view, and the awesome street scene (great colours).

Ps Loved those telescopes too, the William Herschel is a beautiful 4.2m telescope http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Herschel_Telescope ; btw did you know that you had the camera pointed almost directly at the centre of our galaxy in your photo? That’s one of the great areas of the sky you can see and identify lots of stuff with binoculars (preferably on a tripod) all through that area, (and thanks to the missus).

That crater took my breath away...The town houses built just bearly away from thedeep grey rocky fall appearsas though they will slip and fall too.

The scale is enormous. Loved the stone-paved narrow streets with the colourfuly painted houses. And the banana fields are good to know because now I know where some of my bananas are coming from. The observatory shots are amzing with the distinctive blues of the sky. Definitely neat blues.

I can almost...yes, almost imagine you walking along those sun-scorched roads seeking fo rthe best views possible for the photos.

Thanks for sharing, Mark. A great to visit sometime.

Nice shots. It looks like you had a great time. The rock paintings are remarkably similar to a type of 'cup and ring' mark found on rocks in Britain. I find this intriguing. The maze like spiral of the lower mark seems to be a universal symbol of some kind.
