Exit Glacier, Seward, Alaska

This is the glimpse of EXIT glacier (yes, that is the name of the Glacier) at the outskirts of
Seward, Alaska. The Glacier is about a mile from the entrance and as you walk from the entrance
towards the Glacier, you see the markers with numbers like 1870, 1850 etc we did not realize that
the markers indicated the position of the Glacier at the time. In about 100 years, the Glacier has receded
by a mile and we walk on the ground that was once covered by the Glacier as you can see in the bottom
two photos. Not withstanding who caused it or did not, the fact remains is that these Glaciers are receding.

Very interesting Sury. A great geography lesson to see the land left behind by the glacier.

Thank you. It is a mixed feeling when you are walking on the land that was once covered by Glacier.
You feel excited to walk on the land covered by a Glacier and also sad that the Glacier has actually
receded.

A good reminder that we're constantly walking on historical ground of billions of years...Very humbling indeed and how little our time is on the planet to make an inpact on personal basis..other than with the destructive power of nuclear energy/weapons.
