This is really interesting. How I envy you going on that trip. I can only imagine driving that far. It is wonderful that you are documenting the trip. Please keep em coming. Is that all your stuff in the U-Haul? I would need one five times the size.

Thank you. Yes, that's most of my stuff in the U-Haul. The rest is in the back of the Protege5 (or 323F Sport 2.0) and the two 64-quart tubs bungeed onto the MX-5. We gave away or sold a lot of our things, doing triage on what was replaceable, what was worth moving, and what we just needed an excuse to get rid of. Our apartment in Seattle has the same square footage but now we don't have to furnish it with inherited over-stuffed sofas. That's my cat in my arms, he's 2 1/2 years old and seems to prefer riding in the MX-5 over the hatchback. He likes to sit up on the back shelf and walk out onto my left shoulder when something interests him. At night he is more active and tends to climb all over the car, so we tended to settle into a motel as soon as the sun got low, which is why I haven't got any shots later than golden hour.

A nice British couple offered to take our picture for us. He was eager to use my "big camera."
