To give you an idea of the weather we are facing now, here's a shot I took from the edge of a table we have in our back yard. That's about 20 cm snow.

OK, now you made me look lazy, Mark!
I completely neglected shooting a photo like that while the snow lasted. : ) White, nice, soft and all ready to be squeezed into a snowball for a good, little snowball battle.
Hope I get an otherchance with snow over in Istanbul too.
Thanks for sharing,
Yildiz

That's deep snow!
Being in a low level area that seems to have its own weather system we don't often get snow. But it's very cold at the moment and besides the Central Heating, we have a coal fire blazing away in the hearth at the moment.
The birds have extra food and my 18 month old grandson has discovered the joys of cracking puddle ice and slipping all over on the bigger puddles
I was hold of his harness so he didn't fall too badly

That could very well be. This week temperaturs dropped to -18 C locally on some low level areas, while in other areas the temperature 'only' dropped to about -8.Wildieswife wrote:That's deep snow!

Winter has finally arrived. About 4 or 5 inches fell on Friday but melting today. Still cold.

Birma, superb snowman.
We've had around 3" of snow over the week. A thaw set in yesterday but still a lot of wet snow on the ground. A few flurries today but not much.

Re: Weather Today-In Your Vicinity 2013
Some wild fluctuations of weather everywhere, -18C in Holland but further north in England its warmer and struggles to snow, and here it’s strange too, record high temperatures a thousand or two km further south but where I am closer to the Equator if anything it’s cooler than usual for a tropical summer, all very odd it’s like the cool is being sucked out of areas closer to the poles and transferred towards the equator.
Greg
Ps the snowman is great, but it looks like even he was cold.

Thanks Greg and Mike, I'll pass on the compliments to the artists
.
The snow has melted enough for the snowman to have collapsed this morning.

Wasn't sure to post this in this thread or in the birds one. But stuck in today so set up camera to take a few shots of the bird table:-

Nice shot of the whitish doves under snow, Caporip. : )
Give away a lot of clues on the weather condition as well.
Hi Birma, : )
Much effort and some creative approach and thinking in that snowfellow. He looks as though he stepped out of an episode of Dr. Who. The TV is on and just was watching yet an other of his adventures.. : )
Thanks for sharing and my complements to the creative artists! Sorry to hear that the umbrella didn't help much to defy the gravity as the weather warmed up.

Thanks Mark, Caporip and Yildiz
Those doves look like they have plenty of grub to tuck in to Caporip - nice shot!
We met another snowman today - not ours.

After an afternoon of sledging on the Old Hills, near Worcester, we met this jolly looking fellow on the way home. The snow was melting today and so it was a probably a good job we got some sledging in when we did.
