"The mountains are calling and I must go." (John Muir)

Unread post by Birma »

The Isle of Skye is famous for its mountains and quite a few have crept in to my pictures over the last few days. Here is a selection.

This is another of those cliche shots on Skye. I joined at least two other photographers at dawn in the car park at the Sligachan Hotel nearby. The burn was very low, but it was a lovely blue-sky morning.

There is a very popular walk along the waterfalls and pools ti be found in the valley in the next picture and it was difficult to avoid getting other people too obviously in the picture. I have been here where I have sunk up to my knees at every stop and the wind with rain have made it impossible to shoot. This visit it was incredibly dry and arid. I almost felt out of place in my wellies :)

This particular walk on the North West side of the Cuillin range on Skye is known as the Fairy Pools due to the series of small waterfalls and pools along the burns that flow through the coire. They were not as spectacular as they can be as they were short of water following the dry Winter and Spring. Still a great walk though.

Andy,
I love them all. You have proven once again that what matters is the person behind the
camera and camera is just a tool. Given the composition of them all, the type/brand of camera
lost its relevance, IMHO.

With best regards,
Sury

Like the first two images the most, the dry terrain in the second image is a very nice contrast to the rest of the set.

All nice, but I especially like the one of the house in the distance with mountains behind and reflections in the foreground water.

The last two have that feeling of serenity, Andy. Looks like a place
to go to contemplate and meditate or at least your photos convey those
feelings.
