Yep no easy answer DA, if the structural strength of the timber is bad, dry rot I suppose, the end grain is exposed to the rain and the timber resin leaches out over time and then it turns into rubbish in places.

There is a fix for that. Home restoration guys use a wicking epoxy on columns that are hard to replicate. It soaks into the the end grain of the wood, hardening up enough to let them be fully usable again.

The sunset is a nice view DA, I like the birds going past in that last shot too, the boat wasn't actually stuck or anything was it? it doesn't look too stuck to me.

Yes the boat was stuck Greg. The tide was coming in so they wouldn't
be there too long. Only ankle deep on the starboard side.

Hmmm... rhubarb. I never tried it in a pie before. Around here we boil it with a bit of sugar, eat it with boiled potatoes and a piece of meat.

I had never considered rhubarb could be in a savoury dish! It is so synonymous with pudding here. It would be like putting custard on a sausage

David, since you mentioned my name in relation to Rhubarb, I've been to the grocer's and the local produce market to see if we were in the rhubarb season here. Unfortunately, no rhubarb but instead lots of nicely red beets were offered.

I suppose I can't make a rhubarb dish or pie for the time being but maybe some other recipe will have to do. I don't remember having enjoyed a rhubarb dish before but I'll make sure I Iearn the best of the typical recipes and hopefully appreciate the flavor.

way you cook/bake. I can taste your cuisine just looking at it. ;^)

I wonder if the Beetham's have a recipe for Rhubarb? I must say
the mince pie recipe Greg shared with us was great, by far the best
I have tasted. Out did the Fortnum & Mason I once had.
