Not easy to photograph, constant stream of visitors (mostly armed with Canon DSLR's)
Hard to find different angles.

It's a great place vast in size, just after that you come to this place about 10 mins drive if a bit less. Rossbeigh Beach didn't have time to look for the shipwreck that is supposed to be there.

Lovely landscapes from the Emerald Isle, Barry. I like the background of small fields behind the stone circle, and I love the view up the river in Kerry.

2013 Buckinghamshire - Sunset Grazing by Birm, on Flickr

A humid grey afternoon finished with a rather hazy sunset. The incredibly curious cows grazing the meadow had finally started to ignore me and settled down to some intense munching as the sun went down.

That’s a beaut Birma, it could be a scene from Africa with that setting sun, you could tell people it was a Cape buffalo.

Ps I went with a cattle owner once to see his heard in one of the paddocks out west and they all got excited and stampeded around in a big circle, we just turned the car off and sat, pretty soon they were crowded all around bumping the car and sticking their big noses on the windows and snorting and stuff, it was interesting seeing how inquisitive they were.

Thanks Greg . According to the stats of annual deaths cattle are one of the most dangerous animals in the UK! The milkers are huge and I can imagine a few accidents in milk parlours etc. They are also intolerant of dogs and I suspect this is also where people get in to problems with them. Cherry is very nervous of them, but I have always had the "stand your ground and look confident" view. I'm sure it will get me in to trouble one day , and I'm careful to give bulls a very, very wide berth.

When I was shooting in this meadow, as the sun went down a fox started barking at one end of the meadow (out of my sight). This spooked the cattle, and in the end, led by the 'boss' cow, they charged over to that part of the field lowing and moo-ing. This shut the fox up for sure. The cattle then did a victory lap of the meadow and I thought they might decide to see me off at the same time. A bit of nonchalant meandering and making myself look big (!) and they calmed down and went back to ignoring me.

Nex 5 with SEL 55-210.

Over the last 6 months I seem to have migrated to using telephoto lenses for 'landscape' shots more and more. It obviously allows you to focus in on just one aspect of the scene in front of you, and also to collapse distant subjects together. Perhaps it is something to do with photographing the English countryside in the relatively flat and hedge-bound shires.

Barry, what a wonderful shot! From the eye of a little creature that lives on top of those nicely rounded stones.

Andy, I see that you're enjoying every single Sony camera and lens you acquired lately, which is very nice and encouraging. Everytime I read your words on the A99 and see the photos I get this quilty feeling of regret for not having gotten one yet. : )) I'll survive though.

The livestock is a change from the English sheep tha always seem to look interesting in your photos... Nice Sunset from the eye of the tree tops.

I enjoy using the A99 more than any camera I've had before. Before the A99 I had really enjoyed the Nex 5 live view with peaking and the tilting rear screen, but the controls and menus were cumbersome to use. With the A99 I am starting to think very little about the camera itself and more about the shot, which I guess is the idea really . Processing the RAW files from the Nex 5 after the A99 is also an eye-opener - the A99 files just have "a lot more in them" in every sense. For walk-arounds though I still prefer the small Nex to carry.
