Here are a couple from early on Saturday morning, before it got hot, hot, hot!

How quickly the fields, meadows and hedgerows have turned brown this week! Here is 'Big Meadow' at the 'Knapp and Papermill' Wildlife Trust reserve, from the field edge just before sunrise, with the dew still in the Wavy Hair-grass adding a silver tinge to the meadow.

Slight change in location and totally different mood. The wood is still very green, although the brook is barely more than a dribble at the moment.

Both A99 and KM 17-35/2.8-4, the second with polariser.

(An accident free photo weekend for me! I managed to avoid falling in the brook thanks to that well known walking device; a camera on a tripod! Hope Manfrotto legs are rust proof .)

That A99 really agrees with you Andy. Again great shots!

And about the Manfrotto tripod: they don't agree with salt water! Had one, used it in the Atlantic on a beach and could throw the ballhead away afterwards, even while rinsing it in sweat water afterwards. The legs never were the same.

I'm not sure the meadow will look so green again this year .

The nice shady brook looks like the place to be when it's hot Birma, is that last one in the same meadow as the first but at a different time? The grass looks totally different, nice and green, it must be just the angle/height...maybe.

Thanks Greg . Yes, down by the brook is lovely in the hot weather. The greener meadow shot is taken from lower down as you thought, and perhaps more in the shade of surrounding trees so greener. I've got a different shot of the meadow in full sunlight which shows the brown tops and green 'undergrowth' which i'll process and share.

Tis indeed a nice brook Birma, looks like a good place for a bit of birdlife too.

Thanks Greg. There is normally a family of very skittish ducks along this stretch of the river, and there is normally a bit of woodland bird song, but I rarely see any of the LBJs along the stream itself. This could be because they don't favour the location, or I am concentrating too hard on not falling in to notice them . The stretch of wood, next to the big meadow, where the bluebells are at thickest in he spring, is the best spot for the LBJs. There are meant to be Kingfishers along this stretch of the brook (where the water is deeper), but I've never seen them.

Indeed, Birma is on a roll and it's hard keeping up with his pace of shooting. It's far too hot here during the day to walk about the city but we must keep trying, musn't we. : ))

Very interesting woodlands Birma. Sounds like quite a chore carrying the tripod around and the other stuff too, I suppose.

Lovely streams and enchanting greens. Wonder where you'll take us next.
