As Yildiz mentioned cinnamon, I must say, Sury, that taking some in moderate quantities lowers the need for antidiabetic drugs. Same goes for black pepper.
Oh, should I mention also that "tea" prepared with dried bean pods is excellent for diabetics?

Thanks for the information, Doc. I need to remember this the next time that my wife says nasty things about my habit of eating a cinnamon roll with coffee for breakfast.

I will point out to her that I am not indulging my fondness for sweets, but actually helping to prevent the onset of diabetes - so my larger waistline is actually a sign of healthy living.

Hi,

:) An update on Döner from my previous post.
The basic serving: 120 grams of Döner meat shavings with fries and pickeled small peppers and tomatoes on Lavash bread. From this basic serving you can go to the most elaborate one by adding your own salads and pickled vegies or change the bread to the kind that you prefer.

:D :D :D

Thank you, Birma.

Maybe, hearing all those on special treatment diets, beauty diets and healthy diets we should get pro-weigthloss recipes on the thread too; salads and forest fruits and lots of sweet spices that are good for health... : )

Hi Yildiz,
Chippies Yay! :D That’s something I didn’t expect to see, that all looks great too, my only reservation would be those cute little yellow jobs, I might have to test those cautiously first…just to check. 8)

:D :D

Thanks Greg, Dr. Harout, David Antony.

Greg, if you mean the peppers, they weren't hot at all. I believe they're playing it safe since not everyone likes it hot and they do have to please every patron. : ) Better be on the safe side.

Apart from being a little salty for my taste it was good.

Dr. Harout, thanks. : ) You have the privilidge of knowing what it tastes like ... Sounds like a favourite of yours.

David Antony, you're as kind as ever. :) Thanks.

Another mouth watering variant Yildiz. I just got my keyboard replaced due to
damage from saliva. Are those red flakes Paprika or dried red chili flakes?
Just curious.

Doc, I do take Cinnamon (the spicy variety). :)
By the way of clarification, the Cinnamon that is usually found in US and to which
Tom made a reference in his Cinnamon role is a high calorie, sweet dough roll and
is a sweet kind hence his remarks.
Where as the Cinnamon that we get in Asia, which is what I presume Doc
is talking about is spicy and has a bite to it and along with strong spiciness.
Cinnamon and Nutmeg are two that are usually paired in many dishes made with
meats in India along with cloves and cardamom and whole slew of other spices.

With best regards,
Sury

....Sury
Thanks for the kind comments, Sury. : )

Those flaked are a kind of red chili pepper. We have powdered type also but I also like the large flakey type which stands out in the dish rather than just colouring the dish red, especially in soups. A few swimming flakes look nice.
This type that I had sprinkled on the Döner Kebab shavings is also called Cayenne Pepper but the hot type. We have many dishes where the flakey type is used.

Yeah Yildiz nice going…Pal! Just when I thought that one was looking pretty safe…
Thanks anyway, now I know at least one thing to watch out for. :D
Greg
Ps Oh that? It’s just a little sprinkle of hot chili pepper, not even worth mentioning really. My dad used it for brazing flux occasionally, it’s good for all sorts of things, fusing turbine blades into a jet engine for example, and in liquid form you can use it for paint stripper but it’s really excellent when you have westerners over for lunch, then it’s a real blast.

You are indeed on a roll, Greg. :D Come on, I am the one who uses it to create the jet engine out of the regular old turbine blades, Dad has nothing to do with it. Let me see, westerners for lunch...all the hot spices will be tagged on the table and the sweet counterparts will be placed to opt for.

Greg, we have the sweet version of all hot spices, so don't worry; we don't eat that hot around here. Believe me.:) You'd be safe. Sweet spices and hot spices go side by side in Turkey, they enjoy a most happy companionship.

But you are in a good mood nowadays and that's a great .. : ))

I have two updates especially for you, Greg. : ) Showing how my serving of 120 grams of meat was shaved off of the meat stack. (Used my phone camera, I'm afraid.)

Yildiz.

Thanks for those Yildiz, good action shots. :D That style of cooking is at one of the café’s in one of the large shopping centres here (so I’ve been informed), I don’t know if they call it by its proper name though. I think I know why they use such a long knife, maybe to keep the hand out of the heat a bit better perhaps.
I see the tray with the yellow peppers there, I was wondering how you know before hand how hot something like that would be, or you know from past experience that those particular ones are very mild, at a glance, without having to ask? :?
Greg
Ps Actually I don’t mind a bit of warm/hot spicy, (I was pulling your leg) my tolerance is a lot higher than some here, but not nearly up to yours or Sury’s standard most likely.
