That was not what you were claiming when you were predicting Nex would be dead when Canon release a mirrorless camera. Don't remember that now? I do. You blow a lot of hot air but most often you have no clue about the market.

I will stick what what I said. A7/A7r will sell better than both A mount FF DSLR that Sony made (A50 and A900).

RX10 will do just fine. The profit margin on that camera is much higher than average p&s cameras, so even if Sony just sells 1/10 as many as average p&s model, they will do just fine with the camera.

Do these have IBIS?

Since you are a regular SAR reader, you already know the answer. Or is this rhetorical question?

No, they don't have IBIS. E-mount cameras have lens based stabilization.

No IBIS, no flash
Nothing mentioned about 4k video either (I'd expect it to have this purely on marketing pulling power but hey we've no idea)

Still looks odd to me (as said RX with a prism and grip shoved on), and even the 28-70mm kit lens looks rather big. Now imagine a 24-70mm f2.8 slapped on it ;-)

SAR is a website that ‘leakes’ what Sony wants leaked apparently.
They also leak enough wrong stuff to make it seem that it isn’t Sony that’s leaking directly, just some anonymous rumour maker that gets it wrong.
But it could also be that Sony changed their mind and didn’t bother to un-leak.
I wonder if the leak about the A99 is true, that one should give A99 owners a warm inner feeling.
But no one is worried about that camera now, A7 E-mount Alpha thingies are the flavour of the month, they might even be the flavour of a couple of months.
I like how the A7r doesn’t have PDAF but it costs more than the A7 which does.
And I like how that SAR guy (who searched high and low for the images on some Asian site) claims that (without ever coming into contact with the camera) that the A7 has a Pentax LX tank-solid feeling, he can tell how something feels by looking at the photo?

SAR rather poured doubt on my information that this camera body was based on the RX1 and was a Cybershot project - the pictures now make it clear that my informant was quite correct and had seen an RX-based body. I don't know whether the prototypes had the finder built in or not.

Ref the A7R - removing the AA filter enables far more accurate and fast contrast detect focusing, so no need for PDAF on sensor. It's one of the main reasons the other makers have all been removing AA filters, to improve video follow focus (it still doesn't work).

Hi Greg - what was the A99 rumour? I missed that one.

Hi DK - are you tempted? Even for just review purposes :)
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

The doubt was based on your speculation that the APSC NEx lenses will not work on these cameras. He said these are regular E-mount cameras.

Here are the posts where the "doubt" were raised:

David also speculates about some lenses (like the 35mm f/2.0) but he evidently didn’t read the latest leaks here on SAR. The lens is actually a Zeiss 35mm f/2.8. So take his “speculations” with a grain of salt. And the camera is a NEX and will not feature an RX name. What’s correct is the basic rumor he got from his source. A compact E-mount FF camera is coming in October. Yes, that’s correct

So much for smaller lenses
It's very sad to see resources poured into lenses that just don't make sense for a CSC
The presence of a 70-200mm f4 on e mount is a slap in the face to A Mount users.

Be thankful that you even have A-mount, as it would have been long dead without Sony. If the future A mount cameras don't sell, they might just kill it-- just to shut you up. So these lenses are slap on your face? Grow up, dude.

Try being a tad more civil. Be honest how many NEX users (FF or not) are going to buy a small body to put a big lens on it? You could argue Sony can make bigger E mount bodies, and they can. With lenses that are not compatible with A Mount. At least A Mount lenses are compatible with E mount with the adaptor. It makes absolutely no sense to make lenses like a 70-200mm f4 for native E mount

Folks actually have it the wrong way around, it's a disadvantage to have a sensor so close to the focal plane. As Leica found out it's actually quite hard to make good performing lenses that don't run and hide in the edges and corners. Many Leica lenses even as expensive as they were showed significantly more issues with vignetting, distortion and edge performance. Though they were at least small and compact.

Looking at Kurt Munger's comments here, Sony are having problems with APS-C and Zeiss glass...

"I took the Zeiss 16-70mm zoom out for some serious test shots, and in the process discovered the images are far less than what I had in mind for a lens costing $1000. Here's the thing; the centers are very sharp and impressive at F/5.6 at all focal lengths, but as you leave the center, the image softens, and the sides never really sharpen up at any length. At the wide end I don't expect the sides to be really sharp, that would be almost abnormal, but at longer lengths the images should be reasonable sharp with plenty of contrast at the sides"

Situation gets "much" harder with a FF sensor, even with offset micro lenses (to mimic the ability similar to film of light hitting it at acute angles)

Sony would have been better off with a lot less NEX models, and some lenses specifically targeted at shorter focal lengths..pancake primes and a good selection to cover the wide end to short telephoto. As it is I can't see how this strategy will work for them...even if they dump A mount entirely and make bigger SLR looking NEX bodies they still have the problems of that sensor so close to the focal plane. And they will have to re-build their entire inventory from the ground up "with OSS" as they're clearly not doing in body IS.

The entire episode seems very misguided and oblivious to the actual needs of CSC users, and A mount users.
