Update A700 to V4 firmware

Unread post by snn »

I am trying to update from V3 to V4 in Windows. I downloaded V4 from Sony Europe, formatted CF, copied across, checked with Windows Explorer and it shows 100MSDCF File Folder, DSCA700.APP 4609KB 29/082008 and yet when I put the CF in camera and press the Menu/Display buttons it still shows V3. Any help appreciated.

Repeat the procedures Stephen in the following steps:
1- Format a CF card with your camera.
2- Attach your camera to your PC.
3- Copy the exe file on it
4- Switch off the camera and remove the cable.
5- Push the menu button on the camera and without releasing your finger from it, switch the camera on. In a second or two you'll see an appropriate question on your LCD.

Good luck and welcome to the forum. :D

Dr Harout thank you for taking time to reply.
Referring to your notes I checked the Sony site on the notes referring to the firmware update where it states you have to reformat the CF card, which I had thought I had done, but I found the photos still on the card, so I pressed the 'Cancel' to achieve this and recopy V4 to card, and it was the same with the actual update, I pressed the Menu button turned on and the only way I found to activate the update to V4 was to press the black 'Cancel' in the confirmation window where it asks if you wish to Update?. I had assumed you pressed the orange 'OK' button.
