It’s a nice looking spot Birma, very colourful, looks like you got a couple of BIF’s in the background too.

Thanks Greg I can't make out what the BIFs are (LBJs ? ). There were several swallows flitting across the meadow when I took this picture, as they scooped up the abundant insect life. Way too fast for me. These look like hedge-row types rather than the Swallow F1 jobs!

It is poppy time again. The field is not quite as spectacular as last year but it is still pretty special

This was just an afternoon recce to see if the poppies were out. It was hot! May be 24 degrees centigrade - phew - what a scorcher! The was a great blue sky with a few fluffy clouds to complement the red poppies.

There were a steady steam of visitors - the field is next to a busy road and so it attracts lots of people to see it. Lots of camera-phones and iPads on display. With the A99 on a tripod and a bag of lenses I got lots of 'attention' .

The only time I saw so many poppies like that was on a spring trip to North Carolina many years ago. Your photo sort of reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.

Here are a couple of recent photos of Mt. Fuji from my seat in an airliner flying high overhead. Taken with my Canon S95.

Luckily the only ill effects I got from the field of poppies was to make my hay-fever worse! No naps for me, as per the Wizard of Oz . I have re-visited the poppy site this morning to some sunrise pictures. Dawn is very early here at the moment so it was a bit of an early start. Not as many poppies as last year and the sunrise wasn't quite as spectacular, but I still enjoyed myself. I will process the pics later and post them up.

Love those Mt. Fuji shots Henry. Truly epic in proportion. As Sury has said - you did a good job of taking the picture through the aircraft window. You and the Doc. should start a mountain peak thread

I just hold the camera very close to the window without touching (to try and avoid vibration) and cup my hand around the lens to try to try and prevent the lens from seeing reflections. Last year I took these photos of Mt. Fuji with the same Canon S95. Comparing these and the ones from this year it sure looks like we were flying a lot lower this year.

Here is a another poppy field, this time shot early this morning. Once again I escaped without falling asleep, but I may be under another type of poppy spell! . Shot in RAW, and pixels beaten about without mercy, in Lightroom .

Well discovered poppy scenes Birma, nicely composed and captured, the blue sky and clouds really set it off. Very nice lighting in the last one.

Ps And here was me thinking they let you roll the window down for the shot Henry, I think I still like the way they flew the plane around and around to get the clouds into a circle for the photo in the old ones, they must have a new pilot now and he hasn’t got the idea of it yet. Great subject though jokes aside.

Those poppy field shots are stunning! Where are they located? I cannot ever remember seeing anything like them in person. Now if you want a photo of wheat, beans, corn or sugar beets I can get plenty of them later this summer as the come up. But I bet they wouldn't have the same beautiful eye appeal as the poppy fields.
