The poppy field is about 15 miles from where I live in the UK. The poppies are actually growing wild on fields left fallow as part of a plan to convert some farm land back in to original the natural heathland. When they left the fields fallow for the first time a few years ago they suddenly s[rung up with these wild poppies. Their seeds can lie dormant apparently for a long time in the soil.

Poppies do have a real bonus of the bright red colours, but wheat and corn can make great subjects for landscape photos, especially with some early or late sunlight on them.

Here are some more poppy related landscapes. The first is very much just poppies, while the second shows a part of the field which had other wild flowers as well. The white ones are Wild Radish, and I'm still looking up the small blue and yellow ones.

The little islands are interesting Henry. Some sort of shrine I guess? I really like the colours in the ocean in the first one, and the way it fades in to the sky.

More poppies from the weekend. It is just a phase- I'm sure I'll be over it soon .

I feel I am getting "my eye in" for ultra wide angle shots with the 12-24 much better now. I liked the perspective this gave of the clouds focusing in toward the centre of the horizon.

Yeah, it is not uncommon to find a little Shinto shrines on rocks such as these and many other places too. It is believed that gods inhabit some rocks, trees, forests, etc. Often any natural thing that is a bit out of the ordinary (big tree, big rock, etc.) has some sort of shrine in front of it.

Andy, you have certainly found a good place to get those wonderful poppy landscapes. That last one with the great sky is another one.

You definitely have something very beautiful to shoot as a landscape. I'm jealous........Ha Ha. Please keep them coming. They certainly don't get old looking at them, that's for sure.

I like the rock in the ocean with the shrine scene Henry but what are the vague speckles around the top of the Torii gate.

Yeah I agree that last one is a ripper Birma.

Interesting scenes Valery, it looks like that place has copped a bit of wave action now and then.
