The poppy field is about 15 miles from where I live in the UK. The poppies are actually growing wild on fields left fallow as part of a plan to convert some farm land back in to original the natural heathland. When they left the fields fallow for the first time a few years ago they suddenly s[rung up with these wild poppies. Their seeds can lie dormant apparently for a long time in the soil.

Poppies do have a real bonus of the bright red colours, but wheat and corn can make great subjects for landscape photos, especially with some early or late sunlight on them.
