Thanks Birm! You know one of my goals for this season is to learn to find the right 'pockects of light' where one can shoot nice portraits. Like anyone else who has started with photography, it's difficult 'to see' in which circumstances the light is 'good'. Too much sun and it gets too hard and contrasty. Too little sun and it gets too blue and shady. So far, I've noticed that it works best when I find a bit shady place where you get diffused soft light from somewhere near. Knowing what you are going to do in post processing also helps. Finding a good spot and having end result in mind is sort of combined process. However and regarding this picture, this was a kind of experiment to find something useful even in harsh light.
Season of Summer Light Week 24, Saturday - Pispala ridge playground
"Another summer trip. This time me and Aura went to Pispala ridge playground, which is one my favorite places in our hometown Tampere. It’s an old and pretty much abandoned playground at the top of the ridge with a great view over the scenery. You can swing there and enjoy the lake view about 100 meters (300 ft) below you. There isn’t much of the usual playground gadgets there and the things that are there are in a bit of a bad shape, but there is a certain spirit I find very unique [...]"
Yeah I agree cool headgear Toni, nice detail and the bright yellow flowers are good too.

Ps I know something that is interesting for kids, I know it was for us when I was a few years younger, hatching some butterflies, but you have to find some caterpillars first and then get them some leaves each day until they become a chrysalis. I don’t know how difficult that might be in your neck of the woods though, they might be hard to find maybe. But here all you have to do is get a plant or shrub you really want left alone and then there is grubs on it happily munching away in no time, they don’t touch anything you don’t particularly want.

Thanks for the kind words, Birm! I also like the background blur on this picture - seems like SEL50F18 can really deliver when objects are in proper distance. And about the hat: we love it too and use it mainly protecting Aura from sunstrikes. It seems that we found our favorite clothes for every season and I like to have them in pictures because seeing them later kind of brings us to certain seasons of our mutual life. At the same time I try to make sure we only have couple of favorite clothes for every season - and it's kind of must because she grows all the time.

Thanks for the kind words Greg! You've also gave me an idea. Not sure we can hatch butterflies, but I'm sure I can find something similar for us to wonder.
Season of Summer Light Week 25, Wednesday - Picking up flowers
"Now that we (me and Sari) have finally learned to recognize some ordinary flowers, it has really stroked Aura as well. Where ever we go she wants to pick flowers that she recognizes and take them home. I guess naming things really is taking over the world – even if it happens in a very small scale of a two year old girl. Here she is picking up meadow buttercups (or tall/giant buttercups if know them by that name). It’s a bit poisonous flower and one needs to take care that it’s not eaten or that is doesn’t cause skin allergy when touched, but we haven’t noticed anything like that so far. [...]"

Season of Summer Light Week 26, Wednesday - Summer light
"I'm pretty happy with how this picture turned out. Original frame was, following my bad habits, a vertical full body portrait of Aura sitting on a birch tree. She loves to climb into trees and whenever it's possible (and safe) I'll lift her into tree as I enjoy her happiness. I'm glad I found a way to crop it into horizontal portrait which gives it, in my view, a better connection. However, the thing I like most in this picture is that I succeeded to include some that summer light into it which is also stated in the name of this season. I waited a quite some time for an opportunity to do something like this and I'm happy that it finally came when we were visiting a local park. [...]"
