Thanks, Sury! It's actually her mother Sari who is in the picture with Aura.

Season of Summer Light
Week 28, Wednesday - Strawberries
"Here's the good news: the summer is back and we've been having good 26 degrees of Celsius (80 degrees at the Fahrenheit scale) for couple of days. Beginning of this season I told you about the Finns obsession for the ice-cream in summer. Ice-cream isn't the only thing we connect with summer - another one is strawberries which are bought from the market square, eaten and also stuffed in freezers for the winter. Strawberries are essential for summer and no self-respectful Finn will go about without getting some of them. I should also add that they are very healthy with a nice amount of C-vitamin in them. Like others we also plan to buy them and we've been speaking about 5 kg (most of them will go to freezer and we'll be eating them along winter). But the thing is our freezer is currently too full which means I need to shape up and start eating all the stuff we've put into it. Hah, feels like work when you actually have to do it.. [...]"

Season of Summer Light
Week 28, Saturday - Splash!!
"Lately I've been fascinated by the idea that I could get that summer light very literally in my pictures by shooting in back light scenarios and let the light bounce inside the lens causing haze and sun flares in final pictures. If one goes by the textbook it's 'against the rules', but in my book the imperfections and happy accidents created by this technique adds something very special to pictures - an element of being there, one might say. [...]"

I love the timing of your shot. Capturing the unbridled joy
that mostly, if not only a child can experience.

With a water at 60 degrees of Fahrenheit it's pretty much only for children indeed! Thanks for the kind words, Sury. I actually had to take about 100 or more shots (with burst mode) to have one that had droplets high in the sky and a nice face expression.

Thanks Birm! I have to confess that I find shooting at the beach very difficult. First of all, light is often hard and harsh. It comes from the sky and it reflects from the water. In these situations I wish I had an EVF with my 5N, but unfortunaly I don't. :-( In such a bright light looking at the LCD for composition, exposure or focus is just impossible. Because of that I very quickly lose my orientation and beach pictures become a mess of snapshots.. I was kind of lucky with this one, since it exposed kind of well with a +0.7ev I dialed just because of backlight, and I got focus and dof just right. But lord, having a good EVF would make these kind of things so much easier..

Season of Summer Light
Week 29, Wednesday - Head in the clouds
"If creativity is thinking 'outside-of-the-box', it needs the limits that define the box in the first place. For me enclosed playgrounds with limited amount equipment and Aura's interest for them define the box in which I have to act to make pictures of her playing. During the two years I've been taking so many pictures in playgrounds that the normal ones, like Aura filling bucket with the sand shovel, doesn't cut anymore. After hundreds of pictures playgrounds have become so familiar that it becomes pretty challenging to photograph something that hasn't been taken before. But truth to be told, I find this a very absorbing challenge, because I can sit down in peace, watch her play and think about new ways to approach the all so familiar situation. [...]"

Toni,
I see what you are trying to convey but all I see is her angelic face and a lot of negative space.
If that is intended, then you have succeeded. I seem to rhyme today for no reason.

It is perhaps that I was more excited about the idea than the actual realization.. :-)
