When I was a kid I never ate whale, but I ate a squirrel one time. The fluffy tail was hard to swallow so I got it down by drinking a big glass of iced tea. I got to tell you though, by the time that tail got all the way through me I felt like I was really cleaned out.
Generally I will try to eat almost anything once. No guarantees for a second time though. A few times I have had pig guts. There are places here in Japan where people like to eat them. I have had it a couple of times and have also had tripe in Texas a few times. I don't like it. A couple of years ago along with some Japanese friends we went to one of those pig guts restaurants. I told them I would pass on the pig guts and eat something else though. By that time I had eaten them several times already so I had more than satisfied my curiosity and felt no more need to try them again.
I was wondering around this morning and as I walked through an area with lots of izakaya (pubs), nomiya (bars), restaurants, etc. I saw this small place. This is one of those guts places I mentioned. The big sign there says ホルモンランチ -- hormone lunch (guts lunch). For some reason in Japan the English word hormone is used to mean guts, entrails.
After you eat your hormone lunch, if you don't feel well, you can puke your guts out.

I suppose I could cross post this in the other thread too.
